Marc Darrow, MD., JD. is the medical director and founder of the Darrow Stem Cell Institute in Los Angeles, California. With over 20 years experience in regenerative medicine techniques and the treatment of thousands of patients, Dr. Darrow is considered a leading pioneer in the non-surgical treatment of degenerative Musculoskeletal Disorders and sports related injuries. He is one of the busiest Regenerative Medicine doctors in the world.

Knee pain and osteoarthritis
In June of 2018, our research team published the paper Short-Term Outcomes in Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis With 4 Bone Marrow Concentrate Injections. This research appeared in the medical journal: Clinical medicine insights. Arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders.
In this research we were able to conclude that following treatment, short-term outcomes demonstrated that patients experienced less pain and were able to perform daily activities with less difficulty after the first Bone Marrow Concentrate (stem cell) injection and reported additional benefit with each subsequent treatment.

Hip pain and osteoarthritis
In August 2018, our research team published the paper Short-Term Outcomes of Treatment of Hip Osteoarthritis With 4 Bone Marrow Concentrate Injections: A Case Series. This research appeared in the medical journal: Clinical medicine insights. Case reports.
In this study, we were able to document that the patients in this case series experienced decreased pain and improved functionality compared with baseline. On average, patients experienced successive decreases in resting and active pain after each treatment. Patients also experienced a mean increase in total overall improvement percentage and functionality score after subsequent treatments. Prior to Bone Marrow Concentrate (stem cell) treatment, 2 of the 4 patients had been advised to undergo total hip replacement. Following treatment, neither patient considered surgery.

Lower back pain
In July 2018, our research team published the paper Treatment of Lower Back Pain with Bone Marrow Concentrate. This research appeared in the medical journal: Biomedical Journal of Scientific & Technical Research.
This is the first reported study treating low back with Bone Marrow Concentrate injections to the ligaments, fascia, and muscles surrounding the lumbar spine. It is promising that at one-year follow-up, 100% of patients in this study experienced a decrease in resting and active pain in addition to performing daily activities with less difficulty.
- All four patients experienced sustained or increased improvement at annual follow-up compared to short-term follow-up.
- On average, patients reported:
- 80% decrease in resting pain,
- 78% decrease in active pain,
- and a 41% increase in functionality score.
- Additionally, patients reported a mean 80% total overall improvement following treatment.
- The two patients who considered surgery prior to BMC treatment no longer felt the need for it.
- These results provide evidence that appropriately chosen patients with LBP may find relief with BMC injections.
